A Colorado native, Frank has been making pottery for nearly 40 years, starting at East Denver
High School. After receiving a degree from Loretto Heights College under James and Nan McKinnell, Frank apprenticed with Dave
Blakeslee in Lafayette, Co.
From 1990 until 2005 Frank and his wife Sue operated Two Potters, a large pottery gallery and
workshop in Littleton, Co. Since 2001 the Grays have owned the Woodland Inn, a B&B with attached pottery showroom in Woodland
Park, Co. In 2007 Frank banded together with seven other like minded crazy people and opened the Green Horse Gallery in Manitou
Springs, where all hope to become rich and famous.
Frank works in both useful stoneware and decorative earthenware, though functional art is of
primary importance to him. A descendant of pioneers, Raised in a culture that valued items of use and had little time for
'frivolous' art, Frank has attempted to follow the path of the folk craftsman, making items of use for people of his own social
and economic status.
Frank makes a wide variety of functional ceramic ware, below is a small example of what he can
create for you.
